#TeamREV Spotlight: FRC #5584 ICRobotics

Jul 5th 2024

Let's head to the Southern Hemisphere for our #TeamREV spotlight of the week: FRC Team #5584: ICRobotics! This team represents REV Robotics in Australia.

Tell us a little bit about your team’s background.

We are a community team that started in 2011 as a group of 4 primary kids wanting to learn how to make stuff. They started the Inventions Club. That morphed into an FLL team: ICRobotics. We made it to FLL Championship in 2013. That was the inspiration to establish an FRC team, which we achieved in 2015. We worked out of a suburban garage until 2023, when we were given a much bigger space to use by one of our sponsors.

What are a few achievements your team was proud of this season?

  • Reaching FIRST Championship in Houston
  • Having an entire robot built for an offseason competition by our rookie students
  • Running an offseason competition in Melbourne
  • Increasing the number of females in the team
  • Getting a parents club started to increase their engagement in FRC
  • Mentoring Victorian rookie teams and running skills workshops

What is your favorite part about being in #TeamREV?

We really enjoyed meeting other #TeamREV teams over the year and meeting some at FIRST Championship. We are also loving the opportunity to use cutting-edge components on our robots.

What other plans does your team have this offseason?

We are getting ready to put on the Melbourne Robotics Tournament this July. We have received great support in doing this from the other two veteran teams in Melbourne.

We hope to welcome you back to Texas soon, ICRobotics! Find the team on these platforms:
